AC Milan’s Quest to Find the Perfect Replacement for Tonali

AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah as a replacement for Sandro Tonali, who is set to join Newcastle United for €70 million. The Rossoneri have identified the 20-year-old American international as an ideal replacement and are in the early stages of negotiations over a deal.

Musah had an impressive season for Valencia last term, playing 37 times across all competitions and contributing two assists. His performances were vital in helping Los Che stay up in LaLiga, with his ability to play both centrally and out wide proving valuable to the team. He also attracted interest from Inter Milan, Arsenal and West Ham earlier this summer.

The Rossoneri are now said to be willing to pay around €30 million for the former Arsenal academy graduate, who made his senior debut at 2019 becoming Valencia’s youngest ever player at that level. Despite his tender age he has already racked up 66 appearances for Los Che, demonstrating his maturity beyond his years.

At AC Milan he would be able to continue his development under Stefano Pioli’s tutelage. The San Siro outfit have been resurgent since Pioli took charge and they’ll be hoping Musah can help them take another step forward next season as they look forward to returning with style wearing their iconic all-red of AC Milan 23/24 kit.

The USMNT international offers excellent technical abilities along with superb physicality which makes him one of the most promising young players in Europe right now. He has found success playing both out wide and through the middle showing versatility which could certainly come in useful for Milan next season. His intelligence on and off the ball would fit perfectly into Pioli’s system at the San Siro while giving them some much needed energy going forward as well as defensively when required by dropping back into midfield from wide areas if needed.

Milan fans will also be delighted at this potential move due to Musah being born in nearby Rome before moving abroad when still young, where he rose through Arsenal’s youth ranks before eventually finding first-team football at Valencia aged just 16 years old. It looks like a move that could work well for everyone involved if negotiations progress further between AC Milan and Valencia over Musah’s transfer fee as it would give the Italian giants another top talent with huge potential whilst allowing Musah more game time against better opposition which should help him reach even higher levels of performance going forward.
